Geremjo big hit in Australia

Australian dairy farmers are very pleased with the Geremjo daughters they are milking. Geremjo is breeding powerful cows that produce milk with very high components and low somatic cell counts. In the Netherlands as well as in Australia, his proof shows good figures for daughter fertility too. Many have used him again based on the good performance of his offspring. An example is the Flemming family, who milk 250 cows in Finley, NSW. Their son Brenton is the owner of Pinebrook Geremjo Anika, who recently has gone VG87 in her second lactation. She calved at 24 months and completed a first lactation of 6,882 litres at 3.1% (213kg) protein, 3.7% (257kg) fat and a PI (Production Index) of 105 (herd average PI was 94). Mark and Philippa Flemming are regular users of HG sires, and this year Delta Canvas RF was on their AI-list. Besides Geremjo’s they are milking daughters of Laurenzo, Melchior, Apollo and Boudewijn. They have just freshened two Pericles heifers that have caused a lot of excitement in the Philmar herd. “The Pericles heifers are terrific”, says Philippa Flemming. “Great udders and teat size, very desirable rump angle and workability traits are good. The are both in the top half of the heifer group for production, with one having the seventh top PI of 50 first calvers.” •
